Education key stages
Key Stage 1 (primary school Years 3 and 4) builds on Foundation Stage experiences, and Key Stage 2 (primary school Years 5, 6 and 7) builds on Key Stage 1 experiences. As children progress through these stages, they move from informal to more formal learning.
The Northern Ireland Curriculum aims to empower young people to achieve their potential and to make informed and responsible decisions throughout their lives. The learning opportunities provided should help young people to develop as individuals, contributors to society and contributors to the economy and environment.

Education key stages
Our Pre-Prep Key Stage takes play based learning on to the next level and adds some more structure to the way our children learn. From here they move into the Prep Key Stage which is where more complex topics are introduced to our children, provided by specialist teachers in most subjects.
At Kingscourt Private School our pupils are split into three separate Key Stages. Our youngest children join us shortly after their third birthday and go straight into our Nursery classes. Here they partake in structured, play based learning to give them a solid foundation when they move up to Pre-Prep.

Education key stages
The statutory guidance is comprehensively covered by learning opportunities for each key stage across the Programme’s three core themes: ‘Health and Wellbeing’, ‘Relationships’, and ‘Living in the Wider World’,
Most of PSHE education becomes statutory for all schools from September. This includes Relationships Education at key stages 1 and 2, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) at key stages 3 and 4, and Health Education in both primary and secondary phases
